What is an Air Conditioning
An air conditioning maintenance checklist, is a checklist utilized by a professional HVAC technicians to tune and inspect your air conditioning system. AC units, much like cars, need to be maintained and tuned to continue to perform at their peak. The maintenance checklist provides the technician with a standardized guideline for each task necessary to perform a precision tune-up for HVAC equipment. When the tune-up is complete, the customer is provided with the completed checklist, detailing the work performed during the maintenance session.
Sample Air Conditioning Maintenance Checklist
Though each HVAC company utilizes their own air conditioning maintenance checklist, most companies perform these tasks during AC system maintenance:
• Inspect and test all safety controls
• Inspect and clean condensate drain line
• Calibrate thermostats
• Program thermostats, if needed
• Check air filter
• Evaluate air flow
• Set dampers, if needed
• Inspect and clean condenser and evaporator coils
• Inspect ventilation system
• Inspect and lubricate blower motor
• Inspect and clean starter contacts
• Check and recharge refrigerant, as needed
• Test run capacitors
• Inspect motor bearings
• Check and adjust belt tension
• Test air temperatures
• Tighten electrical connectors
• Check condition of evaporator & condenser coils
• Clean drain trays & lines
Throughout the maintenance service visit, the HVAC technician inspects all components of your system. The tech takes note of the condition of parts that may require replacement. After the inspection, the technician will provide you with recommendations for caring for your air conditioner and conserving energy while keeping your home comfortable.
Coolabah Cooling Services offers preventative AC maintenance services to customers in the the northern rivers & SE Qld region. Coolabah recommends having your AC unit tuned each year. When you schedule your annual air conditioning maintenance with Coolabah Cooling, a technician will tune and inspect your system in preparation for as needed. We offer 24 hour-a-day emergency service, seven days a week to all our maintenance agreement clients.
Regular System Maintenance
All air conditioning systems require regular maintenance. Without preventative maintenance, which includes at least annual tune-up, depending on your situation, your air conditioner’s performance will degrade over time. The longer you wait between tune-ups, the more inefficiently your system’s performance will become. The more degraded your system’s performance, the more you will pay to cool your home.
Inefficient air conditioning system performance means that your air conditioner will use more electricity to cool your home. You will pay more for electricty to cool your home when your system is out of tune. In addition, worn parts that would have been identified during an annual inspection continue to wear out and eventually fail, causing potentially costly repairs.
Regular system maintenance give you peace of mind knowing that your AC system is tuned, cleaned, inspected and ready for the cooling season. Maintaining your system with an annual tune-up will keep your system running at its best over the life of the equipment.
